Establiments is one of the oldest neighbourhoods inside the municipality of Palma de Mallorca. It sits north of the city centre, on the lower slopes of the Serra de Tramuntana — for centuries a rural parroquia of olive groves, almond trees, and small bread ovens. It still feels like a village even though it's administratively part of Palma: a church, a couple of bodegas, the old fincas spread across the hillside, and the Carretera d'Esporles running through it end to end.
People come to Establiments for three reasons. For the Serra de Tramuntana — UNESCO World Heritage, beginning literally where the village ends. For the cycling routes that pass through on the way to Esporles, Valldemossa, Sóller, or Galilea. And for the traditional Mallorcan cooking that still happens at places like Restaurant Es Muntant — family-run, olive-wood grill, the variat, the pa amb oli.
Three ways to discover Establiments
Each one runs at its own pace. Walking the Tramuntana takes half a day. A classic cycling loop, a full morning. Just driving up for lunch, twenty minutes from Palma centre. The three pages below cover what you need to know.

The Mallorcan cuisine at Es Muntant is the kind locals grew up on: olive-wood grill, fish from the Lonja market, sobrasada from the village butcher. Full menu Sundays, daily lunch menu Wednesday to Saturday.
