Family table at Restaurant Es Muntant — First Communion in Establiments, Palma

First Communion · Establiments, Palma

First Communion lunch — keep it in the family

Five minutes from the Establiments church. Paella out of the pan, table under vines, family together until late afternoon.

The First Communion is the biggest family event of the year on Mallorca — nine-year-old children, godparents from across the family, grandparents, neighbours from the village. At Restaurant Es Muntant we've hosted communions from Establiments and the surrounding barrios for decades. The Establiments church is a five-minute walk; lunch happens here right after.

⛪ Out of church — straight to the table

The Sant Pere d'Establiments parish runs around 12-15 First Communions a year. From the church to us is 350 metres on foot — the children walk down with parents and godparents, no faff with cars. We open right at the end of mass with the table ready.

For families from other parishes (Sant Magí, Santa Catalina, Son Roca) we're 15-20 minutes by car. Free parking outside for 30+ cars.

🥘 Three menu lines

  • Classic: variat mallorquí (8 tapas), paella mallorquina from the big pan, house-made greixonera or tarta de comunión. DO Binissalem wine included.
  • Brasa: garden salads, lamb chops or sea bass off the wood-fired grill, tumbet from the wood oven, dessert.
  • Mix: paella mixta plus variat selection — the compromise option when the family splits down the meat-versus-fish line.

Kids' menu separately: grilled chicken with chips or spaghetti bolognese, house-made pudding for dessert.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Spaces and sizes

Communions usually run 20-50 guests. On the terrace we lay one long table for 30-40 — that works best for communions because the children sit together and the adults arrange around them. For larger families (50+) we open the main dining room as well.

Photo corner on the terrace looking at the Tramuntana — popular for family pictures by the olive-wood grill.

Frequently asked about communions

When should we book?

Communion season on Mallorca runs from early May to mid-June — weekends fill up by early March. Book ideally in January or February of the communion year, especially if the ceremony is at the Establiments parish (a five-minute walk from us).

What's on the communion menu?

Three options: (1) Classic — variat mallorquí to start, paella mallorquina from the big pan, house-made greixonera or tarta de comunión for dessert. (2) Brasa — salads, lamb chops or sea bass off the grill, tumbet from the wood oven. (3) Mix — paella mixta plus variat selection. Children get a separate menu from age 8 onwards.

Do you have a kids' menu?

Yes. For under-12s we serve grilled chicken with chips or spaghetti bolognese, plus house-made pudding. About 50% of the adult menu price. Under-4s eat free from the family table.

Can we decorate the terrace?

Yes. Table flowers, place cards, photo backdrop — anything that goes up and comes down on the day. We have space for a photo corner on the terrace looking at the Tramuntana. Larger decoration (arches etc.) you bring yourselves.

What does a communion cost here?

Adults: between €38 and €55 per person depending on menu and drinks. Kids 8+: around €25. Under-4s: free. Final figures we send in a written quote at enquiry.
