Restaurant Es Muntant in Establiments — cycling food stop on the Carretera d'Esporles

Cycling routes · Establiments, Palma

Four cycling routes from Establiments — and where to eat after

The Esporles loop, Valldemossa, Sóller, Sa Calobra. The Carretera d'Esporles as the start; the brasa as the finish.

Establiments sits seven kilometres north of central Palma, on the Carretera d'Esporles (MA-1100) — the main road into the Tramuntana. If you're heading into the mountains by road bike or tourer, you ride past us. Some riders climb in the morning and roll back for lunch; others start in Palma and use Establiments as a second-breakfast stop after the first six kilometres. We sit right for both — and the olive-wood brasa has been burning since seven in the morning.

Four routes that regularly end up on our terrace:

🚴 The Esporles loop (32 km, 700 m)

Palma → Establiments → Esporles → Banyalbufar → Andratx → back along the coast road. The default ride for almost every cycling weekend on Mallorca. Distance: 32 km, 700 m of climb. About 2:30 h for moderate riders, 1:50 for the fast ones. High point: the Banyalbufar viewpoint over the Mediterranean and the cultivation terraces. Low point (literally and metaphorically): the Carretera d'Esporles on the way back when your legs are gone and the wind has turned. We sit at that point, and we're open.

🏔️ Establiments → Valldemossa (38 km, 850 m)

Up over Coll de Sa Creu to the mountain village where Chopin spent the winter of 1838. Longest single climb: 6 km at around 6%. Manageable on touring gears, smooth on a 11-30 cassette. Recommendation: ride up in the morning, coffee at the top, descend through Esporles, late lunch with us — you don't want a salad at that point, you want brasa with coarse Es Trenc salt.

🌊 Over the col to Sóller (62 km, 1,300 m)

The serious day ride. Establiments → Bunyola → Coll de Sóller (496 m) → Sóller → Port de Sóller (lunch) → back over the col → Establiments. Demanding but legendary — the col with its 27 hairpins is one of the best climbs on the island. Back at our terrace: 16:00-17:00, legs gone, hungry. The kitchen runs the daily menu late, the brasa keeps going, DO Binissalem in the glass, variat to start. Book ahead from 4 riders up.

🐉 Sa Calobra — the queen stage (90 km, 2,000 m)

If you're riding Sa Calobra you probably know what you're in for. Establiments → Bunyola → Lluc → Sa Calobra (10 km of switchbacks down to the sea) → climb back out → Lluc → Inca → Palma. 90 km, 2,000 m, 5+ hours saddle time. Stopping with us at the end is the only logical answer. Book the table, drink the water, skip the pasta — you'll want sea bass off the brasa, and a variat that doesn't stop.

Tip: if you're riding in a group, call us when you reach Lluc (around 60 km in). The table is ready when you roll into Establiments. +34 971 76 85 35.

Frequently asked by riders

Do you have a bike rack and water?

Both. Bike rack at the entrance for around 8 bikes, free bidon refills, no order required. We see road and touring groups roll up every day — Lycra at the table is normal here.

Which route do most riders take?

The Esporles loop (32 km, 700 m climb) — Palma → Establiments → Esporles → Banyalbufar → Palma. About 2:30 h for moderate riders. We sit at the start or finish, depending on the direction you ride.

Do we need to book?

For groups of 6 or more, yes — and for Sundays or hot summer days regardless. Singles and small groups can usually walk in, especially weekdays.
